We really like eating around the city, and we're guessing you do, too. So lucky for all of us, we've packed some of our favorite restaurants under one roof at Time Out Market New York, Dumbo. The Dumbo location at Empire Stores boasts Bark Barbecue, Clinton St. Baking Co., Tanoreen and more sensational spots sprawling across two floors, with dazzling views of the East River, Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline.
Choosing a favorite restaurant in New York City is a joyful task with myriad possibilities depending on the occasion, mood and even the time of year. Your favorite dive, fine dining destination and neighborhood favorite might all occupy top spots on your personal best list in spite of their disparate qualities.
Our list of NYC’s 42 best restaurants is the same, spanning each of those categories and more to comprise a catalogue of all the places we wish we were at right now. They don’t have to be the newest or the most recently reviewed, just places that we’ve been to and want to return to again and again, and that we think that you will, too.

November 2025: We started this fall the best way we know how: by loading up on carbs. Much like a bear prepping for hibernation (you know, minus the sticks, berries and the extended slumber), I too prepared with the coming chill by stuffing myself silly with all the carby comforts: bagels, pizza and pastas. As a result, two Italian restaurants are now added to our lineup of best restaurants in NYC: Andrew Tarlow's Borgo and the Roman import, Roscioli. We also made a visit to Tatiana for the first time in a long time, and surprise, surprise, we still found it great (which you can read all about in our updated review).
Next month, we will have reached the end of the year, and with it, our list of the best restaurants of 2026. So stay tuned to see what rose to the top. For more on our editorial policies and ethics, feel free to check out how we review at Time Out.
