Kanka Cocina is part steakhouse, part bodegón and very much a home. Meat takes center stage, with unusual cuts and pieces that arrive at the table with fire as their ally. But there is much more around the grill: recipes with a homemade spirit, furniture that looks like it has a story to tell and a plant-filled terrace. There is something about the atmosphere that invites you to take your time and linger over the sobremesa. From the outside, you wouldn't necessarily guess what's happening behind the doors. Located on Avenida Dorrego, the façade is easy to overlook, but once inside, a warm space filled with objects that seem to have come from a classic Buenos Aires home gives the restaurant a sort of Mercado de Pulgas feel, thanks in part to the flea market right next door. There are pieces of furniture from different eras, decorative objects, wooden tables and old-fashioned-looking tableware that complete the feeling of eating in someone's home. Nothing feels overly calculated and, precisely because of that, the whole place feels welcoming and lived-in. Walking into Horta feels a little like discovering a secret. From the street, the restaurant is easy to miss, but as soon as you step through the door, you find a warm and inviting PH with wooden tables, plants, good music and an open kitchen that brings energy to the dining room, with a beautiful patio at the back featuring a large communal table surrounded by greenery. But if there’s one thing that makes you want to come back, it’s the food: a seasonal menu with defined flavors, original combinations and impeccable execution. Kanka Cocina tiene algo de parrilla, algo de bodegón y bastante de casa. La carne es la gran protagonista, con cortes poco habituales y piezas que llegan a la mesa con el fuego como aliado. Pero alrededor de la parrilla hay mucho más: recetas con espíritu casero, muebles que parecen tener historia y una terraza llena de plantas.
