1. Bangkok

Why visit now: Bangkok’s nightlife has everything you could ask for, from the pokey street-side bars to the mega clubs and the 360-degree rooftop bars to the wild LGBTQ+ party pads. But what makes Bangkok special is how parties will naturally spill out from bars onto the streets. Take Soi Nana in Chinatown, a narrow lane home to icons like G.O.D (Genius on Drugs), Tep Bar and Ba Hao, an old shophouse doing cocktails upstairs. Nearby, Bar Temp. runs on community, hosting the city's collectives and DJs most nights of the week. The city is packed with clubs where people go to dance (really, truly dance). Then there's Sing Sing Theater, the red-lanterned cabaret mega-club that appears in The White Lotus season three.
But it’s not all about the party. There’s late-night dining, of course, whether it’s fine dining or eating pad kaphrao off a plastic stool at 2 am. There are rooftop bars with skyline views, best experienced in districts like Thonglor and Silom. Silom, incidentally, is where to head for queer-led gay bars and clubs; while the dolls and the sapphics have their spots too. With its infamous daytime heat, it’s no wonder the city comes alive at night.
How it ranked: Thailand’s electric capital scored highly across the board for its nightlife scene. Seventy-three percent of Bangkok locals rated nightlife in their city as either ‘good’ or ‘amazing’, while the same percentage said it’s easy to feel connected and find community in the city. Bangkok is also a Time Out favourite, gaining a whopping 95 approval score from our panel of experts.
