This year's Mid-Autumn Festival falls on September 25, 2026, and we're gearing up for a celebration of lanterns and wholesome reunions, full moon in tow. Of course, the festivities are not complete without the star of the season: mooncakes. Across the island, bakeries, restaurants and hotels are putting out their most exquisite collections yet. Some are sticking to the basics, while others are going all out with inventive flavours like durian kunafa, cempedak, pink guava and many more. Whether you're team baked or team snowskin, team lotus paste or team durian, this year's selection has it all. We've rounded up the most promising spots to get your mooncake fix this year, from traditional bakeries and Teochew mooncake specialists, to luxurious, elegant sets sure to impress any guest or client.

A true household name, Chinatown Tai Chong Kok Confectionery Hue Kee has been around for over three decades, with outlets in Aljunied, Alexandra Village and Chinatown. The Alexandra Village store is delightfully old-school – cash-only, no frills – and keeps regulars coming back for its preservative-free mooncakes that have remained consistent in quality over the years. They pride themselves on using ingredients like superior-grade lotus seed from Hunan, Chinese olive kernels, bromate-free flour and cholesterol-free groundnut oil.

Look out for classics like the lotus and low-sugar white lotus mooncakes, as well as mini lotus versions and flavours like the savoury assorted seeds and ham, rose petal red bean with melon seeds, and salty sweet green bean with melon seeds. They've also got modern snowskin variations, stuffed with lotus paste and macadamia, black sesame paste, jasmine green tea, and even an alcoholic range which sees truffle and chocolate ganache mooncakes spiked with champagne, rum and raisin, lychee martini or Baileys.

Mandarin Oriental always delivers on packaging, and this year, the hotel reunites with Hong Kong luxury fashion house Shanghai Tang for its second Mid-Autumn collaboration. Moonlit Elegance is inspired by the fashion brand's jasmine flower motif, and the elegant green box doubles up as a jewellery case, complete with a built-in mirror. You'll also find two fine bone china dessert plates and matching forks to enjoy the mooncakes with.

The assorted nuts with royal chilli sauce is a fun, highly addictive twist on the classic mixed nuts mooncake, with a nice texture and crunch plus a subtle spicy kick. The black sesame with mochi comes with a rich, nutty paste and a chewy mochi encased within, while the classic white lotus paste mooncake is equally well done, with a smooth, silky consistency and well-balanced filling that doesn't tip into overly sweet territory.

For proper Teochew-style mooncakes, Ju Signatures is the way to go, crafted by veteran Chef Wong Kok Shyong, who has worked at hotels like The St. Regis Singapore. His signature flaky Teochew orh nee yam mooncake is a must-order, with a layered, buttery crust that gives way to luscious yam paste within that takes four hours to prepare. These treats come in four flavours: plain, single yolk, pumpkin, and mochi salted egg lava. The latter is especially popular, with a filling that isn't too cloying.

There's also the flaky Teochew salted egg lava purple sweet potato mooncake, plus the traditional Cantonese low sugar mooncakes for those who prefer the standard velvety, golden-brown crusts. Fans of mixed nuts mooncakes can give Ju Singatures' wu ren (mixed nuts and fruits) mooncake a go, and we also hear that the mini champagne truffle with pure white lotus paste snowskin mooncake can give Raffles Hotel's iconic version a run for its money.

Looking for something suitable to gift your Muslim friends? This year's Mid-Autumn range by Wu Yue Ting (5 On 25) at Andaz Singapore keeps things inclusive, with halal-certified baked mooncakes that don't compromise on taste. The new Cempedak Coconut Bliss is tropical and interesting, with cempedak, creamy coconut notes and pandan together with macadamia nuts. But it's the returning favourites that have our vote. The Red Date Jubilee contains red dates, longan and melon seeds as a nod to cheng tng, and the Signature Tea is just as lovely, combining osmanthus, oolong and pu'er tea into a smooth lotus paste.

The packaging is equally stunning, sporting lattice patterns and florals in a vibrant magenta-pink, inspired by the design of Wu Yue Ting's private dining rooms. Want to truly impress? Get the Collector's Edition, which comes with a teapot and cup set by French ceramic house Legle.

Each year, Goodwood Park Hotel puts out an impressively wide range of mooncakes, including everything from heritage bakes to daring new flavours and creations. The star this year is the Double Indulgence set, featuring a D24 Durian Kunafa snowskin mooncake alongside an avocado gula melaka snowskin mooncake. The former combines rich durian paste with crispy kunafa pastry and smooth macadamia nut paste, while the latter is decadent and indulgent, with a creamy avocado mousse and a gooey gula melaka core.

For something more refreshing, go for the pink guava with jambu (water apple) snowskin mooncake, packed with guava compote and crunchy pink jambu bits, together with pink guava mousse and lime. And of course, you can't forget the hotel's durian snowskin selection, which is a hit every year. It's not just D24 and Mao Shan Wang that are on offer – the popular Black Thorn durian variant, known for its heady aroma, is also available.

7. Zhen Wei

Here's another Teochew yam mooncake specialist to know. Zhen Wei has been perfecting its craft since 2000, and its signature crispy yam mooncakes sell like hotcakes every year. They're well-loved for their light and crisp, flaky pastry on the outside, and well-balanced, silky yam paste filling on the inside. Each parcel is also fried on the day of delivery to ensure maximum freshness when it reaches you. And the best part? They're reasonably priced, without the usual premiums you'd pay for hotel mooncakes. There are just five flavours to pick from: pure yam, single yolk, sesame yam, pumpkin yam and double yolk.

Since no preservatives are used, it's recommended to refrigerate the mooncakes on arrival and consume them within five days. A short five-minute pop in the oven at 150 degrees Celsius is guaranteed to bring that flaky, crispy outer shell back to life. Find them at the yearly Takashimaya mooncake fair or place your orders online via Shopee. Pro-tip: keep an eye out for flash deals for an even sweeter bargain.

Address: Takashimaya Square B2, 391A Orchard Road, Singapore 238873

Open it up and you’ll find eight Floral and Tea, plus Signature Baked mooncakes, along with a ceramic plate and two matching forks. If you like light, fragrant flavours, the Floral and Tea collection delights with osmanthus honey, jasmine green tea, hibiscus yuzu and milk oolong bergamot peel.
