Things to do in Mumbai this week

If your calendar is calling and staying home can wait, then swap the usual dinner plans for a little island-inspired indulgence, an art-filled afternoon or a night of live music this week. The Bali Food Festival at The Tipsy Tiger Garden Bar is set to bring tropical holiday vibes to the city, so you can pretend to be on an Indonesian getaway without the airport queues. The most haunted places in Mumbai for a spooky night out

The most haunted places in Mumbai for a spooky night out

Mumbai may be the city that never sleeps, but some of its intriguing stories are best left for daylight. Behind the crowded railway stations and buzzing nightlife, there’s another Mumbai: one of lonely forest roads, abandoned mills, and centuries-old buildings, where tales refuse to disappear. What makes these places fascinating is the mix of history and hearsay. Some have witnessed real tragedies. Others acquired their spooky reputations through stories passed down by security guards, residents, and curious visitors. Whether a woman in white appears on a deserted road, unexplained noises in an office building, or the spirit of a bride said to linger around an abandoned church, Mumbai’s paranormal folklore has all the ingredients of an award-winning horror film. And yes, it's obvious that there's a difference between a documented historical event and a supernatural claim. Though there is no independently verified evidence that any of these locations are haunted, their spooky tales remain a significant part of Mumbai’s urban folklore.  Whether you are a history enthusiast, a horror lover, or simply someone who loves a good spooky story, here are the seven most haunted places in Mumbai you might wanna know of, or even visit.
Mumbai Events in October

Mumbai Events in October

While September set the tone for what’s arguably Mumbai’s most festive annual quarter, things have really kicked off in October. India’s festive season started with the grand celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, and now, the city is all set for Navratri, Durga Pujo, Dussehra and, of course, Halloween. This is the month when your things-to-do calendar is about to get packed with Garba nights, Pujo pandal hopping and plenty of festive food. Beyond the festivities, Mumbai has plenty more on the calendar, from music gigs and art exhibitions to food festivals and creative events. Falguni Pathak is set to return for nine Garba nights this Navratri, bringing her bangers to the stage, while Gippy Grewal will bring his Punjabi hits live. Berlin’s Habibi Funk is also coming to the city, bringing North African and Middle Eastern beats to the dance floor. If theatre is more your thing, catch Traasadi by Manav Kaul at NCPA. Art lovers can wander through The Eternal Within, a solo exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, or check out Satish Gujral’s The Modernist Returns at the National Gallery of Modern Art. Meanwhile, Indian Film Project is back in Mumbai for its 16th edition, bringing filmmakers, actors, podcasters, creators and curious minds together for workshops, panel discussions and live performances celebrating art and literature. And, of course, no Mumbai calendar is complete without food and drink. This month brings the Bali Food Festival by Tipsy Tiger, as well as SALT, a two-day celebr
The best supper clubs in Mumbai

The best supper clubs in Mumbai

Supper clubs are kind of still the shiny new thing. And in a city as quick-paced as Mumbai, it’s easy to see their appeal. There’s that allure of a curated social gathering, the premium feel of a small, home-cooked menu, and the general exclusivity of being part of a small bunch of people who’re as interested in being there as you are. It’s a chance to make friends, eat great food, and escape the general impersonality of crowded bars and restaurants. Most supper clubs are underscored by the same approach – an appreciation for the thought, effort, and love that goes into feeding people food that’s cooked with passion. Here are the supper clubs best embodying that in Mumbai right now.

AR Rahman is set to promise a memorable evening of timeless Sufi melodies at NCPA, while Chet Faker returns with his India tour after a seven-year hiatus, adding Mumbai to his concert list. Plus, electronic music fans can lose themselves in the late-night sets from Allin Showcase and Un*Deux. If you’ve been watching Sunil Grover play Dr Mashoor Gulati, Gutthi and Rinku in The Kapil Sharma Show on television, you wouldn’t want to miss catching him perform these characters on stage. Mumbai events in August

If you've spent most of July waiting for the gusty winds and rain to calm down, it’s high time you stepped out. There's a fair bit to explore in Mumbai this August – and a lot of it's to do with some really stellar artists coming to town. Leading that charge is Punjabi folk and Sufi singer Rashmeet Kaur (known also for her jazzy touch), plus Polish guitarist Marcin Patrzalek makes his debut in India, which is big news either way you look at it. Not just that, there's more to catch up on: an Independence Day special Candlelight Concert that's planned as a tribute to AR Rahman's timeless music (we're sure that's bound to hit different after the student protests in July), a Fado performance at NCPA educating the city about Portuguese music, and a jazz show! It's not all about music, though. Anime and manga lovers will rejoice in the news of an upcoming cosplay competition, and for motorsports fans, there's a special high-adrenaline event that promises a full-throttle experience. Fitness freaks, you're not being left out – HYROX has got your back. In more ways than one. Without much further ado, here's a list of the very best events taking place in Mumbai in August 2026.

The Supperclub Mumbai by Chef Raji

The Supperclub Mumbai by Chef Raji

5 out of 5 stars
At The Supperclub Mumbai by Chef Raji, Chef Rajshri Gupta swaps restaurant theatrics for the warmth of a Karnataka-style home meal, reimagined with a deft touch. Our evening began with welcome drinks: a tropical Coconut and Pineapple cooler, and a fiery Guava Chilli concoction. Dinner kicked off with crusty sourdough and two flavoured butters: Andhra Chilli, layered with roasted dried chillies, garlic, curry leaves and a touch of tamarind, and Moringa, subtler and herbaceous, with earthy moringa and curry leaves. Then came the Elevated Kosambari, a humble salad of soaked moong dal, cucumber, coconut and mustard tempering, with juicy pomelo for a little sweetness and frozen feta grated over the top. For the main course, Chef Rajshri resisted the urge to over-modernise the flavours. The Chicken Sukka, a coastal Konkani preparation, came with tender meat coated in roasted coconut masala and just the right amount of heat. It was paired with rice-based Akki Roti, meant to be eaten like a taco. Next was Gassi, another coastal Karnataka classic. Ours was the Fish Gassi, where roasted spices and the cooking technique gave the curry plenty of depth. The vegetarian version came with Madras cucumber. Then came the Donne Biryani, inspired by the Bengaluru Military Hotel style, made with short-grain rice, green masala, whole spices and herbs. It was packed with flavour and perhaps the most comforting plate of the evening. Dessert was Coconut Rasayana, made with fresh coconut milk, jaggery
Border Bean Barbecue

Border Bean Barbecue

4 out of 5 stars
There’s a deeply satisfying feeling to watch someone ignore a rulebook with complete confidence. That’s what Border Bean Barbecue in Lower Parel does. By the word ‘barbecue’ in the name, you’d simply expect a platter of smoked meat on the menu, but there’s more.  Yes, it’s a smokehouse. Yes, you’ll get slow-smoked meat. Somewhere between the innovative cocktails and African-inspired jollof rice, though, this place is clearly doing way more than trying to recreate Texas in Mumbai. The new 60-seater restaurant is an evolved version of founder and chef Shantanu Jagtap’s experiment that started with a 15-seater space in Bandra in 2022 before shifting to Kamala Mills last year. Casual yet polished, with an inviting bar corner, it works equally well for post-work drinks or a loud dinner with friends.  Barbecue without borders The menu is built around patience: meats spend between six to twelve hours getting smoked, and that time pays off in the Sliced Brisket – thinly sliced buff brisket smoked for twelve hours – tender, smoky and served with a glossy jus. Similarly, the eight-hour smoked pork belly cubes we tried were tossed in a spiced maple honey glaze that walks the fine line between sweet, savoury and smoky. The Charred Chicken with Cowboy Butter was served with mash and charred beans, and the Smoked Wings were one of the dishes the chef suggested from the menu. Plus, being a seafood lover, the Fresno Butter Garlic Prawns with Pico de Gallo hold a special place in my heart. Th

Mumbai’s first mangrove park in Gorai may open before Diwali 2026

The next big nature escape in Mumbai could be hiding among Mumbai’s dense mangroves. The city’s first dedicated mangrove park, the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Mangrove Park (or the Gorai Mangrove Park) in Gorai, might finally open to the public before Diwali! According to Mid-Day, the  ₹33.43-crore mangrove park could welcome visitors within the next 10 to 15 days, provided everything 'goes as planned'. The space has been awaiting its inauguration for over six months now, despite reports that construction work has been completed. The eight-hectare park in Mumbai’s western suburbs was developed by the Maharashtra Forest Department’s Mangrove Cell with an aim to allow visitors a closer look at the coastal ecosystem through nature trails, educational displays, and birdwatching facilities.  What can visitors find at Gorai Mangrove Park? According to Mid-Day, the biggest draw at Gorai Mangrove Park is a 740-metre elevated boardwalk that will let you walk through Mumbai’s mangrove ecosystem without cutting through the trees. This project is designed with an eco-sensitive approach, ensuring exploration of coastal habitats while minimising disturbance to its vegetation. The Gorai Mangrove Park will also include: An elevated boardwalk or a walkway winding through the mangroves, offering an up-close view of the ecosystem. Guided nature trails with trained naturalists to help visitors learn about mangrove habitats Nature interpretation facilities as well as interactive experience

Mumbai's Sion, Vidyavihar and Goregaon flyovers finally opens for commuters

Mumbai's Sion, Vidyavihar and Goregaon flyovers finally opens for commuters

Mumbai’s traffic may soon have a few fewer reasons to test your patience. Three major infrastructure projects were inaugurated on October 22, 2026: the Sion Railway Overbridge, the Vidyavihar flyover and the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) flyover. The projects are expected to improve road connectivity and ease congestion across key stretches of the city. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the three structures virtually in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar. The inauguration, originally scheduled for October 15, marks a significant step towards improving east-west connectivity across Mumbai’s suburbs. What do the three projects add to Mumbai’s road infrastructure? Sion bridge reopens after two years The reconstructed Sion Railway Overbridge replaces a 1912-built structure that was declared unsafe. Its closure disrupted a crucial east-west link, making the reopening an important development for motorists travelling through the area. The new bridge features two semi-through steel girders, each measuring 54.5 metres in length and weighing 496 tonnes. Its design also accommodates the planned fifth and sixth railway lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kurla under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP-II). The project includes improvements to approach roads and pedestrian infrastructure, along with better connections towards Kurla, Dharavi and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road. Vidyavihar flyover promi
Diljit Dosanjh's Aura India Tour in Delhi hits hurdle after cops deny permission

Diljit Dosanjh's Aura India Tour in Delhi hits hurdle after cops deny permission

If your October plans included singing along to Punjabi hits by Diljit Dosanjh, here’s a plot twist nobody had on their bingo card. The Delhi Police has denied permission for the singer’s upcoming concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi, which was scheduled for October 30, 2026, due to 'threat-related inputs' and security commitments during the festive season.  The decision was communicated in a letter from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District, addressed to the ticketing platform associated with the event, BookMyShow, as reported by the Hindustan Times. The organisers' application was for the Delhi leg of Diljit Dosanjh Aura India Tour, which is also set to take place in multiple cities across India in November 2026. However, the denial of security permission doesn’t confirm whether the concert has been officially cancelled. Nor has a new date has been announced. Fans who have booked tickets should check for an official update from the organisers and BookMyShow regarding the concert’s status, entry arrangements, or any refund process. Where is Diljit Dosanjh performing next? Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour was set to begin with the Delhi concert on October 30, which remains on hold as of now. His wider India tour schedule includes concerts at Indore (on November 15), Ahmedabad (on November 21), Mumbai (on November 27), Bengaluru (on November 29), Lucknow(on December 5), and Kolkata (on December 19). Additionally, Chandigarh is also listed among the
Love Swati Snacks? You may love newly-opened Makaan in Juhu even more

Love Swati Snacks? You may love newly-opened Makaan in Juhu even more

Ghar ka khana enthusiasts, this one's for you, because Mumbai's latest dining address, Makaan, freshly opened in Juhu on October 20, is all about food that doesn't clog your arteries. Coming to you from Karan Shah (the man who helmed insanely popular Swati Snacks) and Samyuka Nair (the restaurateur behind LSL Capital), Makaan marries Gujarati home cooking with a brand new sort of vegetarian dining experience, zeroing in on regional vegetarian culinary techniques, seasonal produce, and the art of making guests feel welcome.  Spread across 58 covers (with indoor and outdoor seating), the restaurant is designed as an intimate communal space, with visual cues that come from a lived-in Gujarati home: a terracotta palette with deep earthy tones, plus muted bandhani accents, which are a nod to the state’s textile culture.  What does the food and beverage menu at Makaan look like? The vegetarian menu at Makaan goes well beyond the Gujarati staples you might already know. Think seasonal ingredients, regional specialities and everyday comfort food, from Locho, a soft, steamed speciality topped with spices, onion and butter, to Pudla (gram flour pancakes) and Panki. There’s also Dahi Batata Puri, Satpadi Roti, Fada Khichdi and Vatana Muthiya with Pudina Roti, so there’s plenty to dig into. And since Gujarati kitchens know a thing or two about eating with the seasons, the menu at Makaan changes with what’s available. Expect ingredients like green tuvar, surti papdi, ponk and kand to ma
A new Mumbai-Bengaluru train could cut travel time by 6 hours

A new Mumbai-Bengaluru train could cut travel time by 6 hours

Your next Mumbai-Bengaluru trip could involve fewer hours staring out of a train window. The Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is reportedly expected to make its inaugural run on November 1, 2026, coinciding with Karnataka Rajyotsava. However, Indian Railways is yet to officially confirm the launch date or announce when regular services will begin. The new sleeper train promises a faster overnight rail connection between two of India’s busiest cities, with the journey expected to take around 16 hours. That’s roughly six hours less than the 22 hours taken by existing direct trains on the route, giving passengers a little more time back in their day. As per reports, the train is expected to feature 16 coaches, comprising 11 AC three-tier coaches, four AC two-tier coaches and one AC first-class coach, with a total capacity of 823 berths. The sleeper configuration is designed for passengers who would rather catch some shut-eye than spend the night counting railway stations. What are the timings, cost, and stations for the Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper train? Timings and schedule The proposed Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper train service is expected to cover the distance between Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai – approximately 1,118 kilometers. This journey is expected to take around 16 hours, saving around six hours of travel time between the two cities. As per the proposed timetabl

Madwater Brewery opens in Dadar, with more than 15 craft beers on offer

Mumbai's got a brand new address for the craft beer enthusiasts – and just in time for winter brunch, we say.  Meet Madwater Brewery, a sprawling new taproom in Dadar that opened on October 16, bringing freshly brewed beer, beer-friendly bites and plenty of room to settle in for the afternoon. Spread across 10,000 sq. ft., the flagship space by founders Abhijit Rao and Raj Rai takes the grain-to-glass journey seriously, with an on-site brewery, bold flavours and a design-led space where music and mood matter just as much as what’s in your glass. The design here may be another reason to check out the place – because Madwater marries Mumbai's Art Deco heritage with Brutalist leanings, and is said to take cues from the city's relationship with water. On display is a 32-foot ceiling, cantilevered terrace, and loads of heavy structural steel everywhere. This latest opening comes hot on the heels of craft beer giant Doolally's brand new outlet in Chembur. Mumbai's craft beer scene is indeed alive and kicking. Read more: Beer not your thing? Check out the best dive bars and cocktail bars in Mumbai What does Madwater Brewery in Dadar have on offer? Craft Brews At the heart of Madwater Brewery is the Fermentarium: a range of around 15 beers brewed in 300-litre batches. The lineup spans 2.8% to 6.5% alcohol by volume (ABV), allowing options for easy-going sippers and adventurous craft beer consumers.  What's included in the range? Your dinner and drinks out could get 10-15% more expensive in Mumbai

Your dinner and drinks out could get 10-15% more expensive in Mumbai

Your favourite neighbourhood lunch and spontaneous dinner plans could soon cost a bit more than the price you’re paying now. Think that's pinching your pockets? You're not the only one, because the reason behind the higher bill is that Mumbai restaurants are grappling with rising expenses themselves.  According to the announcement by Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association, restaurants are preparing for a 10-15% hike in menu prices, as the cost of running a food business continues to climb. These changes may affect people who rely on eating out – office-goers, students, and professionals regularly ordering food online.  Reportedly, this move comes as restaurant operators face mounting expenses on cooking fuel, raw materials, staff, and daily operations. This proposed increase isn’t a blanket price revision across every food establishment in Mumbai – it depends on individual restaurants in Mumbai to determine how much to adjust their menu. Why are Mumbai restaurant prices going up? Operational Cost Running a restaurant involves more than what lands on your plate, and fluctuating dairy, vegetable, plus ingredient prices can affect kitchen budgets in a fraction of a second. Add transportation costs, commercial cooking gas, rent, and employee salaries to this blend, and keeping the menu prices unchanged becomes difficult. As per The Times of India, the retail cost of dal across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region has climbed from ₹20 to ₹30 per kg, after the price hike at Vashi APMC o
Mumbai Metro Green Line gets its first driverless train connecting Thane-Wadala corridor

Mumbai Metro Green Line gets its first driverless train connecting Thane-Wadala corridor

Mumbai’s public transport is getting a futuristic upgrade as French manufacturer Alstom revealed the first driverless train for Mumbai Metro Green Line, with the six-car trainset expected to arrive in the city within the first or second week of December. This is the first of 39 trainsets built to connect Wadala-Thane on Metro Line 4 and Metro Line 4A. As part of a fleet of 39 six-car Metropolis trainsets, the train was unveiled at Alstom’s manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday, October 14. The first train is expected to be shipped by the end of November 2026, with a journey of around seven to ten days to Mumbai. With a green-blue design, it will feature airflow-based cooling, wheelchair accessibility, and dedicated bicycle racks. The trains are designed for a maximum safe speed of 90 km/h and an operational speed of 80 km/h. Additionally, the fleet will use communication-based train control technology to enable fully automated, driverless operations once the required systems and infrastructure are ready. Which areas will the Mumbai Metro Green Line connect? Mumbai Metro Green Line 4 is an elevated corridor including 30 stations, running from Kasarvadavali in Thane to Bhakti Park in Wadala. Its extension – Mumbai Metro Line 4A – adds two stations connecting Kasarvadavali to Gaikmukh, adding another 2.7km. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) estimates the corridor to reduce travel time by 50% to 75%, depending on road conditi
DGTL India 2026 moves its Mumbai festival venue to Goa

DGTL India 2026 moves its Mumbai festival venue to Goa

Mumbai’s November calendar is, unfortunately, losing one of its biggest-ticket events. DGTL India 2026, which was planned for an action-packed day at Ballad Pier in Fort in Mumbai, is being relocated to Goa! Well, Mumbai's loss is Goa's gain.  The festival made the announcement on its official social media page on Wednesday, October 14. The new setting's admittedly more picturesque than the industrialised Ballad Pier – a beachfront event space at W Goa in Bardez. The announcement comes less than a month before the festival's due to begin, though the November 13-14 dates remains the same. However, Bengaluru fans needn't panic – DGTL India will still be taking place at the original venue: The LaLiT Ashok in Seshadripuram. Why did DGTL India 2026 relocate to Goa? The relocation of DGTL India 2026 from Mumbai to Goa comes amid the licensing uncertainties affecting the live concerts across Maharashtra and Mumbai. However, as announced by the festival on its social media, the tickets bought for the Mumbai festival will remain valid for DGTL Goa 2026, plus offering a complimentary +1 as a token of gratitude, which will be added to the existing ticket. Also, if you're someone looking for a refund, the festival's refund window closes on October 16, 2026, at 11:59pm – 24 hours after the announcement post on the official social media. The lineup for Goa remains similar to what was set for the Mumbai schedule: Kibo, Biianco, Colyn, Nina Kraviz, Nox Vahn, Blu Attic, Nicky Elisabeth, Phil
