If there is one time that captures Mumbai at its most magical is this week. The city of dreams will slip into full festive mode as Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 takes over the streets with towering idols and beautifully decorated pandals – plus fragrant modaks. But beyond just Ganpati Pandal hopping and chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya, ’ there’s plenty more happening in Mumbai this week – from soulful concerts and international orchestras and contemparory art exhibitions.

For classical song lovers, AR Rahman is performing timeless Sufi at NCPA. Chet Faker is coming to the city this Saturday, making his India return after seven years, plus a performance by the New Chamber St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra –  this musical lineup sounds exciting.

If you love a slower pace and prefer deeply diving into stories on canvas, head to Tao Art Gallery in Worli to wander through a meditative abstract exhibition. And archeology enthusiasts can visit this exhibition at CSMVS for a fascinating dive into humanity’s earliest inventions – rare stone tools, prehistoric cave art and more.

The best part? Mumbai’s festive energy means that even the journey becomes part of the experience. For that, Mumbai Metro services are making travel easier by keeping their Aqua Line 3 operations on till midnight during festive days – it’s the perfect excuse to stay out a little longer and discover a different side of the city after dark.

It's time to spice up your day out with your friends and family and bookmark this guide – these are the best things to do in Mumbai this week.
