Just because you can doesn’t mean you have to. That statement applies to a lot of things in life, with the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday on November 27 topping my—and I imagine a lot of others'—current list. This year, a number of Chicago restaurants are answering the call of those who don’t want to cook the holiday meal by offering terrific Thanksgiving feasts of their own, ranging from over-the-top buffets to indulgent multicourse menus, with nary a dish to wash. Reserve early as tables tend to book up fast. Look who’s thankful now…

Updated November 13, 2025: I know what you’re thinking: Where the heck did this year go and how is it already Thanksgiving? Like clockwork, I start to panic right about now about all the things I haven’t gotten done. But with so many Chicago restaurants opening their doors (and hearts) on November 27, at least preparing a lavish Thanksgiving meal doesn’t have to be one of them. Which gives you more time to start worrying about the holidays in December…
