1 Day to Christmas: Kloof Street

Voted Cape Town’s coolest street for 2025, Kloof Street is a vibrant, eclectic strip, lined with restaurants, bars, cafés, vintage and designer shops, as well as a mix of accommodation offerings, including the rear entrance to the iconic Mount Nelson.

Spending a day exploring this snapshot of the city’s creative energy - day or night - as it draws locals and visitors in equal measure.

However you are spending tomorrow, may it be peaceful, merry and safe. Merry Christmas!!!

2 Days to Christmas: City Hall & Grand Parade

Cape Town’s City Hall, overlooking the Grand Parade, is over one hundred years old and is where Nelson Mandela delivered his first speech as a free man.

It symbolically stands as a place where heritage meets everyday city life. You can still catch a symphony concert here, take a snapshot with a commemorative Madiba statue, or hear the bells ringing in a new chapter for the Mother City after being fully restored earlier this year.

3 Days to Christmas: DHL Stadium

Rising above Green Point between Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean, DHL Stadium is one of Cape Town’s premier event venues. Built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, with a seating capacity of around 55,000, it hosts everything from major sporting fixtures to international concerts. As one of Cape Town’s largest and most versatile venues, it’s a world-class space that anchors the city’s modern entertainment scene.

4 Days to Christmas: Blouberg Beach

Best known for its postcard views of Table Mountain across the bay, Blouberg Beach is a favourite for long shoreline walks, kite-surfing and wide-open sunsets.

5 Days to Christmas: Kalk Bay

The Christmas countdown is well underway, with only five days to go, and this time we’re shining a light on Kalk Bay.

Along the False Bay coastline, fishing villages and working harbours offer some of the city’s freshest seafood and most characterful coastal experiences. Kalk Bay’s harbour is perfect for fish and chips by the water, while Hout Bay offers boat trips to Seal Island, home to thousands of Cape fur seals.

6 Days to Christmas: The Company's Garden + Surprise giveaway!

Tucked into the city centre, The Company’s Garden is Cape Town’s oldest public space - a leafy pause where history and daily life intersect. Wander shaded pathways past the city’s oldest tree, planted in the 1600s, settle in at the tea garden for a slow cup and a slice of something sweet, then drift between the Iziko South African Museum and National Gallery, where art, culture and centuries of stories whisper about the city’s endearing spirit.

With Christmas just around the corner, we are turning up the festive cheer with a lineup of exciting giveaways in the Time Out Cape Town Christmas Advent Calendar. We will be crowning new winners every week, and the prizes are nothing short of epic. One of the must-win rewards? A Monster Superstar S110 speaker from @monster_southafrica, valued at R899 — perfect for setting the tone for your summer soundtrack.

7 Days to Christmas: Sea Point + Surprise giveaway!

The Sea Point promenade is central to this Atlantic Seaboard neighbourhood, which moves to its own rhythm. Morning joggers give way to sunset strollers, espressos or cocktails on hand - depending on your preference - as you enjoy the Mother City’s most reliable glow show.  Promenade walks and prime people-watching spots, endless eateries, putt-putt pit stops and dips in its ocean-drenched pavilion pool round it off perfectly.

8 Days to Christmas: Muizenberg Beach

Famous for its colourful beach huts and gentle waves, Muizenberg is one of Cape Town’s most welcoming beaches. A hotspot for beginner surfers and seasoned professionals alike this beach also spells fun for families and dog walkers. It’s long been loved for its laid-back charm and strong sense of community along False Bay.

Over the next couple of months the beachfront is being transformed in a major, heritage-conscious upgrade, aimed at protecting the coastline, improving access and enhancing the overall visitor experience, while carefully preserving the character that makes Muizenberg such a special part of Cape Town’s appeal.

9 Days to Christmas: Constantia Wine Route

A short drive from the city, the Constantia Wine Route blends centuries-old vineyards with refined tasting experiences. As South Africa’s oldest wine-producing region, it is home to some of the Cape’s most celebrated estates, including Groot Constantia, Buitenverwachting, Steenberg and Beau Constantia.

These historic homesteads offer in-depth cellar tours, guided tastings and fine dining that pair exceptional wines with deep-rooted Cape heritage.

12 Days to Christmas: District Six Museum

Step inside one of Cape Town’s most important cultural landmarks. The District Six Museum, founded in 1994, preserves the stories of the mixed-race community forcibly removed during apartheid.

A visit here is a moving reminder of the city’s past and the people who shaped it.

What makes it even more real is its guided walks and tours led by former residents. Inside, you’ll find exhibitions featuring artists across various disciplines, as well as the permanent Digging Deeper display, an immersive blend of documentary, digital, and sound elements that brings the lived experiences of District Six to life.
