The trailer for the next Avatar series, ‘Avatar: Seven Havens,' has landed

Just one more month until we meet the newest Avatar.

Avatar: Seven Havens, which follows Pavi, a young Earthbender, premieres on Paramount+ on Friday, October 9.

Pavi is a young Earthbender who discovers that she's the new Avatar after Korra and also that she’s a twin, but the world is stacked against her.

According to the Paramount+, Seven Havens is set in a world “shattered by a devastating cataclysm. Pavi finds that in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity's destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, Pavi and her long-lost twin Nisha must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization's last strongholds collapse.”

In an interview with Variety, co-creator Bryan Konietzko said that the new series is heavily influenced by South Asian culture.

“The concept and even the word ‘avatar’ all come from Indian culture and tradition and Sanskrit,” he said. “So we had done a bit in Avatar, the original series. We’re obviously inspired by and draw from a lot of real world cultures for our fantasy world. But that said, I kind of felt like with the first two series, we had underserved that inspiration, and so it was very deliberate with Seven Havens to to code Pavi as a South Asian-inspired character.”

It’ll be cool to see a new culture represented in the already diverse universe and how it’ll fit into the show’s dense lore.

The show stars Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aishu Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and Dee Bradley Baker as Geet and Ruhi.

Avatar: Seven Havens Book 1 airs on Friday, October 9 (formerly the release date for Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, which instead aired earlier this summer) with three episodes. Episodes 4-6 will air on October 16, with episode 7-9 released on October 23 and the remaining episodes 10-13 to follow on October 30.
