To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic Egg McMuffin, McDonald’s is turning up the heat by bringing back a trio of spicy breakfast classics. Starting Tuesday, July 8, three fan-favorites are making a return to menus nationwide: the Spicy Egg McMuffin, the Spicy Sausage McMuffin and the Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg.

Each sandwich takes the breakfast classics we know—cheese, egg and Canadian bacon or sausage on a buttered, toasted English muffin—and turns up the dial with a generous shot of McDonald’s signature Spicy Pepper Sauce.

"Whether you're fueling up for a morning marathon of meetings or just need something delicious to kickstart your day, these breakfast sandwiches deliver big, bold flavors," said McDonald's in a press release.

The return marks a bold twist on a breakfast staple that first hit menus in 1975. Created by California franchisee Herb Peterson, the original Egg McMuffin was the chain's first-ever breakfast item, and it changed the fast-food breakfast game forever.

McDonald’s is using this golden anniversary moment not just to celebrate, but to bring back some heat from its past. The three spicy versions of the Egg McMuffin originally appeared briefly in 2020 as part of a breakfast expansion push. That rollout included jalapeño-heavy variations rather than sandwiches topped with spicy pepper sauce, but they quietly vanished after a short time, much to the dismay of many fans.

Now these hot and spicy favorites are back—but don’t wait too long to grab one for yourself. This is a limited-time offer, and McDonald’s hasn’t specified exactly when these spicy breakfast sandwiches will disappear again. So if you’re craving a fiery start to your morning, now’s the time to jump on it. Start your day with a little kick—this is one special sandwich worth waking up early for.
