From the adorable Pokémon x Polaroid collaboration to the recent Poké Ball Hotel reveal in Hokkaido, Japan is going all out with Pokémon celebrations to mark the franchise’s 30th anniversary this year. Now, Starbucks Japan is getting in on the fun with its own collaboration, featuring a fun new drink and Pokémon-themed merch.
Available from September 30, the new Pikachu Honey Cream Latte is the result of a recent Pokémon x Starbucks Barista Battle, where more than 700 baristas from around Japan entered their drink recipe for a chance to have their creation sold nationwide.
The drink channels Pikachu’s iconic yellow colour with honey and caramel flavours, topped with espresso. It’s finished with honey-flavoured whipped cream and cute heart-shaped sprinkles that mimic Pikachu’s rosy cheeks. Those who order the drink will also receive a special collaboration sticker. The drink will be available in a tall size only for ¥678 (dine in ¥690).
Along with the new drink, 41 special items will also be available in stores and online.
The collection features Pokémon artwork by illustrator Hikaru Ichijo across stainless steel tumblers, insulated cups, stacking mugs, heat-resistant cups, aprons, tote bags, keychains, postcards and more.
