The interiors are nothing bank-like however – think plush furnishings, modern fittings and a vibe that is anything but Wall Street. Villa Dahlia is a parkside boutique hotel with a personalised feel. The interiors are effortlessly chic, with a palette of neutrals dominating. We particularly like the hotel’s restaurant, where the dishes are a cut above the norm but still somehow comfortingly familiar (they also do one-off themed nights and a special Italianate Sunday menu). When you feel in need of recharging, head to the Spa & Spirit where – in true Scandinavian style – the sauna (including a contemporary infrared one) is at the centre of proceedings.

This hotel is also surprisingly good for families, offering kids spa packages and the Palace Playroom where kids will be fully supervised while you head off to enjoy that massage.
