History buffs, here’s a show you shouldn’t miss: Escape to Batam. This production traces the life of Ming, who spent his boyhood on the rural island of Batam to escape the Japanese Occupation in Singapore.
Interwoven with Ming’s story are the deeply personal reflections of his daughter, who grapples with the struggles of loss and grief following his passing. As she pieces together fragments of his past, she comes to realise what it means to carry the sorrow of losing loved ones, while finding the strength to continue living for those who remain.
The production is created by local talents Claire Wong and Huzir Sulaiman, featuring Adib Kosnan, Chaney Chia, Genevieve Tan, Rebekah Sangeetha Dorai and Neo Swee Lin.
