Maybe it’s Maybelline, maybe it’s an art exhibition about sex starring illustrations of animals getting up to naughty things, set in a love hotel.

Say what? Yes, we’re talking about Ikuiku Love Hotel. Running from January 24 to March 15, 2026, this exhibition at Heartware Store & Gallery presents a solo show by Taiwanese artist Ikuiku, pairing cute, seemingly harmless illustrations with sexual humour.

At first glance, Ikuiku’s world looks like an innocent sugar rush: colourful palettes, wide-eyed characters, and comically illustrated scenes. But look a little closer, and you’ll realise those cute illustrations are taking a sharp turn into the NSFW territory.

Rendered in vibrant risograph prints, the scenarios are funny, awkward, and refreshingly unbothered – part of the artist’s ongoing mission to talk about sexuality as casually as what you’re having for breakfast.

The exhibition also marks the debut of Ikuiku’s newest zine, launched alongside a space that has been fully transformed into a love hotel. Literally. Heartware commits hard to the concept, right down to themed merchandise inspired by the setting: hotel keychains, towels, memo pads and a condom blind box.

Artist Ikuiku Studio will also be in town for the opening weekend. The programme opens on January 23 with an invite-only opening night and live portrait drawing, followed by an artist talk from 2.30pm to 3.30pm, and more limited live portrait drawing sessions from 4pm on January 24.
