Singapore’s latest record shop has entered the chat – meet Lifted Trax.
Opened officially on August 5, the all-new record store digs deep into dance, electronic, jazz, soul, ambient and all the wonderfully niche corners in between, with both a physical store and an online catalogue for those who prefer their crate-digging from the comfort of home.
At the helm is Singapore selector and budding producer and label head Dexter Colt, whose musical appetite runs from deep, leftfield house and trippy techno to dub-heavy frequencies. With more than a decade behind the decks, Colt has built a reputation for digging out the obscure, shaped in part by pirate radio and New York club legends. He’s also a member of labels Darker Than Wax and Super Enjoy, and hosts a monthly show on Bristol-based Noods Radio.

There’s plenty to get your hands on at Lifted Trax. The collection spans labels and artists from Singapore to Japan and the UK. Expect 12-inches from Mondo Grosso and Grand Agent, soul and jazz LPs including Quincy Jones, and a House section mixing Masters At Work with Japanese acts like Crue-L Grand Orchestra and Eico. There are more surprises – D.Diggler in the Techno & Electro section, Tokyo Ska Paradise under Broken Beat & Club Jazz, and rare gems from Sade.
And for seasoned collectors looking to rehome preloved records – Lifted Trax is buying, too. The shop is currently looking for bulk collections across genres, including house, deep house, techno, disco, boogie, UK garage, drum and bass, reggae, hip hop, jazz, ambient, new age, soul and Asian rare groove. Singapore sellers with 60 records or fewer can submit a list of titles for review; larger collections can be assessed in person.
To celebrate its opening, Lifted Trax is also planning a launch party later this month, with details still to come. Till then, check them out in-store and on their Instagram.
Lifted Trax is located at 25 Lorong Telok, #03-01, Singapore 049037. The shop is open Wednesday to Thursday from 12pm to 7pm, Friday to Saturday from 12pm to 8pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 6pm.
