Every year on that date, the country remembers and honours the youth of 1976 who laid down their lives for the sake of the freedom of others. The Soweto Uprising, which occurred on June 16, 1976, was a student-led protest which led to the death of hundreds of young people and marked a turning point in the history of South Africa. This year marks the 47th anniversary.   The City of Joburg has a line-up of exciting events to celebrate the day.  The event is happening in Soweto, at the Dube Boxing Club, starting at 7am until late.  It will start with a 5KM walk followed by a variety of sporting activities including boxing, tennis and aerobics.  Attendees will be entertained with drama, fashion, design arts and crafts. R&B star Kenny Lattimore is coming to South Africa

R&B legend Kenny Lattimore is bringing his soulful sound to South Africa.  The Grammy-nominated artist with a euphonious voice and versatile style of music will perform at Sun City, about 200 km from Johannesburg. The Gospel and R&B singer, whose music has made him a household name since the 1990s, continues to be a leading voice in the entertainment industry. Having released countless albums that have helped many fall in love, walk down the aisle or heal from heartbreak, Kenny’s show promises to be nothing but magical. South African Airways expands its fleet

Exciting news for travelers, South African Airways has welcomed a new aircraft. The move was taken to ensure the business can serve its consumers better, offering more flight options.SAA took to social media to unveil the new plane. The aircraft is called ZS ~ SZN. SAA shared a video of the plane taking off with the caption: “Our #SAAfleet just got bigger! Welcome to the fam, ZS ~ SZN ✈️🇿🇦.” The airline currently has 20 aircraft. It welcomed two other aircraft earlier this year. In a statement posted in January on its website, the airline announced that it “added two aircraft to its fleet in the last two weeks, successfully growing its fleet size to 20 aircraft.” The state-owned entity is rising despite numerous challenges, such as a bailout and downsizing recently. “This is a remarkable achievement considering that just over three years ago, the airline emerged from business rescue with just six aircraft. Since 2021, the team at SAA has worked strategically and consistently to grow the fleet and route network sustainably. These additional aircraft will enable SAA to continue fulfilling our promise to add seat capacity in both the domestic and regional markets and thereby contributing to the affordability of passenger air travel, ” said Professor John Lamola, interim CEO at SAA.
