Well, Ziploc and Too Good To Go are here to save you from leftover boredom with a solution that is both delicious and fun: "Surprise Seconds."
To kick off their new campaign—focused on helping us make the most of the food we already have—they’re rolling out the Wheel of Sandwiches food truck in New York City on September 30. It’s an interactive, game-show-style culinary experiment designed to show how easy (and tasty) it is to give perfectly good leftovers a grand second act.
Here is how it works: you'll give the giant wheel a spin to land on a "first"—a classic dish from legendary local partners like Murray’s Cheese, Ajo y Oregano, Mahmoud’s Corner or Queens favorite Hellbender. From there, you get a "Surprise Second"—a brand-new, mouthwatering sandwich spun out of that very dish by Hellbender’s very own chef Yara Herrera.
Instead of treating leftovers as a tragic afterthought, Chef Yara reimagines them into completely new, completely craveable handheld creations. It’s a genius collab uniting Ziploc’s legendary freshness-locking powers and Too Good To Go’s mission to rescue surplus food. By pairing smart storage with a little culinary imagination, the duo aims to turn fridge-clearing into the best part of your meal plan.
If you're in NYC on September 30, find the Surprise Seconds truck at the corner of 39th St. and 6th Ave. to spin the wheel, nab a free lunch and walk away with a little bit of kitchen inspiration. And if you can't make it, fear not: Ziploc and Too Good To Go will be sharing recipe ideas, storage hacks and leftover inspiration online.
