First it was a plane crash at Montreal’s new airport.
Now, an employee at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport has died after being struck by a plane Monday evening, the airport authority confirmed Tuesday morning.
According to a press release, Yves Beauchamp, President and Chief Executive Officer of ADM, expressed his condolences to the employee’s family, loved ones and colleagues, saying the loss of a member of the airport community “affects us all deeply.”

ADM said it worked with its partners to quickly put support measures in place for employees and passengers who witnessed the tragic accident. The organization has also been cooperating with the authorities leading the investigation since it began.
Out of respect for the victim and their loved ones, ADM said it will not provide further comment and has asked the media to direct any questions to the authorities overseeing the investigation.

"It is with profound sadness that ADM learned of the passing of a member of the YUL airport community, an employee of our partner Samsic, who passed away while performing their duties.
The entire YUL airport community is mourning this loss. Our thoughts are with their family, loved ones and colleagues, to whom we extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences.
During this difficult time, our hearts are with everyone affected by this tragedy."

A report by the CBC states that the aircraft was reversing when it struck the ground crew worker. The airport authority said emergency measures were activated at around 7:30 p.m.
The report goes on to detail that the employee was taken to hospital but later died from their injuries. The plane, operated by French Bee, had been scheduled to depart for Paris at 6 p.m. ET on Monday. Radio-Canada reported that the flight had originally been scheduled to leave Montreal on Sunday but was postponed.
On Tuesday morning, Montreal police said Employment and Social Development Canada, a federal government agency, had launched an investigation.
The airport authority said it is cooperating with the authorities investigating the incident and has “swiftly implemented assistance and support measures” for employees and passengers who witnessed the accident.
