One of the hottest new shows on TV right now is Prime Video’s Sterling Point—and if its lakes, forests and cottage-country scenery look familiar, there’s a very good reason.

Although the fictional town of Sterling Point doesn’t exist, the Muskoka landscape featured throughout the series is very real.

Where was the TV show Sterling Point filmed?

According to a report by The Streets of Toronto, Sterling Point was filmed across Ontario, with production taking place in both Toronto and the Muskoka Lakes region.

The series captures everything that makes Ontario cottage country so cinematic, from sparkling lakes and forested islands to rocky cliffs, marina docks and spectacular waterfront cottages.

Is Sterling Point a real place?

No. Sterling Point is a fictional island created for the series.

The show follows 17-year-old Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin), who leaves New York after inheriting a mysterious island from her grandfather. She arrives in a small lakeside community that initially seems idyllic—but things quickly become more complicated.

The fictional setting is brought to life through a combination of real locations, particularly throughout the Muskoka Lakes region.

Where is Muskoka?

The Muskoka Lakes region is centred around three major lakes—Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph—along with countless smaller lakes, rivers and waterways.

This is classic Ontario cottage country, where getting from one place to another can mean hopping on a boat rather than getting behind the wheel.

Where did they film Sterling Point?

The series Sterling Point was filmed in Ontario, Canada. One of the recognizable locations in Sterling Point is Mortimer’s Marina, a real family-run marina located at the tip of Mortimer’s Point on Lake Muskoka.

Another real location featured in Sterling Point is Sparrow Lake Camp near Severn Bridge, Ontario. The overnight camp dates back to 1912 and provides the backdrop for the series’ summer-camp scenes.

While Muskoka provides much of the wilderness, lake and cottage-country scenery, Sterling Point was also filmed in Toronto.
