The 2026 Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) is upon us, and celebrations are scheduled all over Montreal.

Downtown Montreal is hosting multiple celebrations, including exclusive dishes (and a next-level cocktail) from Time Out Market Montréal—home to some of the best chefs and restaurants in the city under one roof.

What is the animal for the Lunar New Year 2026?

In the Chinese zodiac, 2026 is the year of the Horse—or more specifically the Red Horse or Fire Horse.

When is the Lunar New Year 2026?

The celebration begins with the New Moon on February 17, 2026. Activities kick off on February 14, 2026, and carry on through the weekend of February 21 and 22, 2026.

What's on the Lunar New Year menu at Time Out Market Montréal?

From a spicy Red Tiger soup to a satisfying Chicken Tikka Masala, head to the Market to try these exclusive dishes and the signature cocktail: the Osaka—an intoxicating mix of Nigori sake, plum wine, Rosemont coconut rum, yuzu and sesame syrup, pineapple and fresh lemon juice.
