Casa Vega is turning 70, and to celebrate seven decades of killer margaritas and fab food, the beloved Sherman Oaks restaurant is rolling back the price of one of its menu favorites to 1956.
On September 10, the L.A. landmark is celebrating its platinum milestone with an irresistible offer. From 11:30am to midnight, you're invited to score Casa Vega’s famous #1 House Combo plate—normally a $27 feast of two traditional items, Spanish rice and refried beans—for a mind-boggling $2.15. Yes, you read that right. Two bucks. You can barely get a side of guacamole for that kind of pocket change these days.

Founded back in 1956 by 22-year-old Rafael “Ray” Vega, Jr., this culinary institution has been serving up authentic Mexican dishes and famously strong margaritas for seven decades. Today, under the leadership of Ray's daughter, CEO Christy Vega, the restaurant remains a family-run staple. In a statement on Instagram, Casa Vega says “Consider it our love letter and thank-you to the community that has made Casa Vega what it is today.”
With its iconic white exterior, red script sign, dark lighting and wrap-around red leather booths, Casa Vega is pure Tinseltown magic. Over the decades, it’s hosted Hollywood royalty ranging from Marlon Brando and Cary Grant to modern stars like Charlize Theron and Dave Grohl. Movie buffs will recognize those cozy booths from Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, where Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio knocked back a few drinks.
The 70th year has already been a victory lap for the James Beard America’s Classics Award winner: The restaurant recently doubled in size with a new patio named after its founder, and the City of Los Angeles officially dubbed the corner of Ventura Boulevard and Fulton Avenue “Vega Square.”
