After a week of Piccadilly line closures, users of the dark blue line will be thankful to hear that it isn’t set to be impacted by major travel disruption over the August bank holiday. But there are other planned TfL closures and service alterations to know about in the city over the long weekend – including notable disruption on the Northern line, DLR and Overground.
Sure, the weather might not be looking great, but there’s plenty to be seeing and doing in London on August 29-31. Maybe you’ll be braving the rain for the 60th anniversary of Notting Hill Carnival or final weekend of All Points East, perhaps you’d rather something indoors like gazing at Luke Jerram’s ‘Gaia’ or the Dog & Bell’s Sausage and Cider festival. London travel disruption and tube closures on the bank holiday weekend, August 29-31 2026
Northern line
- On Saturday August 29, no trains between Camden Town and High Barnet / Mill Hill East in the early morning, 1.30am to 3.30am.
- From 3.30am on Sat Aug 29 and all day Sunday August 30 and Monday August 31, no trains between Archway and High Barnet / Mill Hill East.
Windrush line
- Sat Aug 29, Sun Aug 30 and Mon Aug 31, no trains between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction / Battersea Park.
DLR
- Sun Aug 30 and Mon Aug 31, no trains between Shadwell and Tower Gateway.
Weaver line
- On Mon Aug 31, no service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town / Cheshunt after 10.45pm.
Piccadilly line
- Westbound trains won’t call at Barons Court until November. If travelling west, go one stop east to Earl’s Court and change trains for westbound services.
District line
- No westbound trains at Barons Court until November. Head east to West Kensington and bounce back.
Waterloo and City line
- Closed on weekends and bank holidays, as always.
Notting Hill Carnival
As always, some stations will be have restricted opening hours, be closed or exit-only for Notting Hill Carnival. The following stations will be impacted:
- Holland Park (Central line) – on Sunday and Monday exit-only from 11am to 3pm. Closes at 11pm
- Ladbroke Grove (Circle and Hammersmith & City lines) – closed Sunday and Monday
- Latimer Road (Circle and Hammersmith & City lines) – closes at 11.30pm on Sunday and Monday
- Notting Hill Gate (Circle, Central and District lines) – on Sunday and Monday, 11am to 6pm, no Circle or District line trains (and no interchange) and exit-only for the Central line.
- Westbourne Park (Circle and Hammersmith & City lines) – on Sunday and Monday, exit-only between 11am and 11pm, closes at 11pm.
