What to expect during your visit:

The library boasts a collection of over 1.5 million books and serves more than 250,000 members.
 
The premises also house several specialist libraries, including the Central Reference Library, Children’s Library, Michaelis Art Library, Multimedia Library, Music Library, Harold Strange Library of African Studies, and the Newspaper Reading Room.

Good to know:

To use the library, you must present your identity document and proof of residence upon entrance. You can also take out a membership card, which allows you to borrow four books or fewer for free.
