Fans of the Joburg-born superstar got a final taster as Tyla's new album drops worldwide.

Tygas, the wait is over! Tyla closed out the countdown to her second album, A*Pop, with a final listening session streamed from New York to give fans around the world a taste before the full album arrives on Friday, July 24.
Locally, fans attended a special Neon African Pop-themed party hosted by Sony Music at the Arc Store in Sandton City, as the 14-track project ushers in a fresh chapter for the Joburg-born, multi-Grammy winner.
Tyla has described this era as African and unapologetic! She's put her creative force into pop music on her own terms to take it global. Early singles, including ‘Chanel’, ‘Is It’ and ‘She Did It Again’ with Swedish pop star Zara Larsson - all pointing to a heady mix of pop, R&B, dancehall and the amapiano bounce that turned Tyla into the sensation that has catapulted her into the spotlight.
But South African fans have even more reason to press play.
Tyla is collaborating with three distinct South African voices on the album: MaWhoo joins Tyla on ‘Crazy of Me’, while Babalwa M appears on ‘I Don’t Care’. House music favourites Liquideep also feature on ‘Fairytale’, adding to one of this year's most anticipated international pop releases.
The collaborations feel bigger than a few hometown shout-outs, though! It shows Tyla bringing South Africa’s music scene into the sensational pop conversation surrounding her while letting local artists flourish in their own identities. Tyla’s rise may stretch from the Grammys to the Met Gala and the world’s biggest festival stages, but the attitude, rhythm and visual language behind her music remain closely connected to the city that made her - and here Jozi fans are here for it!
Where first self-titled debut album introduced Tyla to the world, A*POP now leans into showing the world exactly what Tyla thinks pop should sound like.
