The Henley Passport Index has just released its global ranking of all the world’s passports for this year, which looks at the number of destinations their respective holders can access without a prior visa. Among 199 global passports, Hong Kong ranks at number 17 in terms of global mobility.

Holders of the Hong Kong passport are able to enter 169 territories visa-free, which is two less than our number of destinations from 2024. However, in terms of grading, we have moved up one spot from our previous ranking at number 18

The top three passports remain unchanged from last year, with Singapore at the top spot, able to access 193 territories visa-free, followed by Japan and South Korea, each respectively with a 190 visa-free score. The rest of the list until the tenth ranking are mainly Europe-dominant, with France, Germany, Italy, Finland, and more tied for third spot; followed by Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and more.

The UAE is the first Middle Eastern country to make it onto the uppermost rungs of Henley’s report, tying with Canada and Estonia at eighth place, with a visa-free score of 184. Asia comes back into play with Malaysia at rank 11, Hong Kong at 17, Macau at 31, and Taiwan at 33. In contrast, the People’s Republic of China passport comes lower down the list at rank 60, sandwiched between Botswana and Kosovo, with visa-free access to 83 territories.
