The city’s sweet-toothed foodies have been buzzing ever since it was announced late last year that the American ice cream and fast food chain Dairy Queen will be coming to Hong Kong. We finally have updates, as the brand confirms they will officially be on our shores in November.
To no one’s surprise, they have chosen the buzzy shopping district of Causeway Bay to host their first flagship store, and while the exact address remains undisclosed, it will be in a “prime location”. Sharp-eyed Hongkongers have also noticed Dairy Queen boarding up in Kwun Tong, and the brand has confirmed that this Kowloon location is also well underway.
In fact, a total of four stores are set to open across Hong Kong this quarter. We haven’t forgotten that in their initial announcement, Dairy Queen claimed the plan was to open 60 restaurants in Hong Kong as well as 10 in Macau over eight years, so we might well end up with a DQ in each neighbourhood!
Diners can obviously expect Dairy Queen’s signature Blizzards – soft serve which is famously thick enough to hold even when the cup is turned upside down – but Hong Kong locations will also have fresh concepts tailored for us, including cones, milkshakes, parfaits, and ice cream cakes. Keep an eye on this space for news of their official opening.
