After taking a few months off, Café Landmark is officially reopening on September 4, welcoming guests back to its signature open-air balcony on the first floor of Landmark Atrium.

A staple of the Central neighbourhood since 2001, the restaurant has traded in its old look for something inspired by sun-drenched Tuscan terraces. The team has kept those intimate booth seats regulars know and love, but wrapped the space in a warmer, earthier palette designed to let in plenty of natural light while you keep an eye on the shoppers below.

It’s not just the decor that’s getting an upgrade, though. The menu has also had a makeover, weaving Japanese touches into its classic French foundations. Old favourites make a return, albeit in slightly fancier boots. The Boston lobster spaghetti ($428) now features Japanese-style pasta tossed in a rich, foamed shrimp head stock. The fresh crab meat au gratin ($328) packs in sweet meat from up to four flower crabs baked till golden, while the beef stroganoff ($268) is served in a cast-iron pot over rice perfumed with morel and shiitake mushrooms.

If you’re stopping by for dinner, there’s a Dover sole meunière ($988) meant for sharing that gets deboned right at your table, or a decadent grilled M6 tenderloin with foie gras ($488) finished off with freshly shaved truffle.

Sweet tooths are well catered for from 2.30pm onwards with the arrival of The Dessert Trolley, a table-side experience that lets you mix and match a plate of two artisanal cakes or pastries, a scoop of ice cream or sorbet, and a coffee or tea ($268) from a rotating lineup of over 10 daily treats.

To wash it all down, mixologist Kenzo Lee has been brought in to design the venue’s first bespoke beverage programme. There are eight drinks to choose from, including the lobster-inspired gin sour Boston Breeze ($120), the herby Verde & Rosso ($125) cocktail with fresh basil and shiso, the Champagne-based Petal Fizz ($125), and a fruity avocado mocktail Tropical Velvet ($115).

Café Landmark is located at Shop 107-108, 1/F, Landmark Atrium. Doors open on September 4, so you can start planning your next leisurely afternoon of cocktail sipping and people-watching.
