Sweet, silly and simple, the animated Lilo and Stitch, from 2002, was the closest thing zoomers had to a Disney Renaissance Era classic, and rewatched it accordingly. Twenty years later, it received the now-standard live-action treatment, and lost little of its charm. Lilo is a lonely orphan from Hawaii. Stitch is the blue, puppy-like alien she adopts as her new bestie. Adventures ensue from there.
Modern parents – especially those with children between the ages of 1 and 3 – are constantly wringing their hands over screen time, often with good reason. But as anyone raising a toddler will tell you, you just have to do whatever it takes to survive. That frequently means plopping the young’uns down in front of the television and switching on a movie.
But there’s no need to feel guilty about it, especially if you put on the right movie. Sure, the wee ones may not have the attention span to sit still for the duration of an actual feature film, but the best kids movies should still buy parents some time before they inevitably return to dumping the contents of your purse into the toilet and ramming their heads into the wall. And hey, they might learn something along the way. These 20 movies will certainly do the trick.
