Rykaart duo take the helm at Newton Johnson Restaurant

Stellenbosch culinary duo Alex and Ella Rykaart, the talent behind the celebrated Rykaart’s Restaurant at Longridge Wine Estate, are bringing their signature style to the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.  

The husband-and-wife team are the new chefs heading up The Restaurant at Newton Johnson, marking an exciting new chapter for the wine estate. 

After two celebrated years at Longridge, the Rykaarts say Newton Johnson’s “dedication to quality and sense of place” aligns perfectly with their own approach to cooking and hosting. They will be overseeing both restaurants, so fans of the Stellies establishment need not worry. 

Diners at The Restaurant can expect a small, seasonal à la carte menu of vibrant starters, thoughtful mains, and understated yet indulgent desserts - each dish designed to pair seamlessly with the estate’s site-expressive wines.
