Lisa’s Bangkok blitz: every bar, brand and local spot she repped this September

Flip-flops, a fur top and Muay Thai shorts sound chaotic on paper; in Bangkok, they make a perfectly credible night-out uniform. Lisa joined TukTuk Radio, the mobile DJ crew that broadcasts live sets live from the back of a tuktuk as it rolls through the city. The combination was pure Bangkok. If you have yet to catch one of the collective’s roving sessions, start with Lisa’s set, then follow the crew for the next route and date. Videos land online afterwards, so you can still join the ride from home.

On the 42nd floor of Dusit Central Park, The Norm pairs Fritz Hansen furniture and low lighting with skyline views across Silom. After dark, the Terrace’s DJ booth shifts the rooftop bar and social club into party mode – and Lisa dropped in while DJ Patra was on the decks. It is already one of Bangkok’s see-and-be-seen rooms; the K-pop endorsement will not make a table any easier to get.

HEYTEA’s first branch in Thailand opens at centralwOrld on September 25. It is a HEYTEA Lab – the Chinese cheese-tea brand’s higher-concept format  – and is billed as the first Lab in Southeast Asia. The distinctly local order is Thailand-only mango sticky rice drink, a nod to the classic dessert and the obvious place to start.

By September 16 Lisa had traded Bangkok’s soi-side food for a New York studio, serving Jimmy Fallon som tam and a homemade cocktail of soju, Chang beer and Sprite on The Tonight Show. The Thai soft-power flex came with an odd local twist: Thai broadcasts blurred the drinks to comply with the country’s tight alcohol advertising rules. A cheerful Press Play promo clip became an unexpected talking point about how Thailand’s booze laws handle global TV.

Lisa's latest footwear choice came from PACE Shoes, the Bangkok label founded in 2014 by Pimpisa ‘Patty’ Promfang. Its handcrafted sandals and sculptural heels have the feel of art objects rather than mass-market accessories, with shapes you will not find on every shop floor. The label grew from Promfang’s ‘make them yourself’; to see the pieces in person, make an appointment at Casa De Pace in Wang Thonglang.
