Identity, survival and the awkward business of being human sit at the heart of Carry On Being. The exhibition also takes aim at the familiar idea of the tortured, romantic ‘artist’, asking what making art means in everyday life. At first glance, the works feel playful, with bright colours and a visual language rooted in contemporary pop art. Look longer and weightier ideas surface: isolation, uncertainty and the small contradictions involved in making sense of yourself and the world around you.
