In a move that’s frankly a no-brainer, global K-pop superstar and national icon Lalisa ‘Lisa’ Manobal has officially been named the new face of Thai tourism.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced today that the Blackpink member will take on the role of ‘Amazing Thailand Ambassador,’ essentially tasked with convincing the world to book that flight to the Land of Smiles. And let's be real, she probably won’t have to try very hard.

For years, Lisa has been one of Thailand’s most powerful cultural exports. Now, the government is making it official, harnessing her immense global influence to showcase the country’s appeal. While the press release was filled with the usual talk of ‘quality leisure destinations’ and ‘meaningful memories,’ the real story is simple: Thailand is deploying its biggest star to supercharge its tourism industry.

‘Collaborating with Lisa… marks another significant milestone in presenting the charm, diversity, and wonders of Thailand from a fresh perspective,’ said Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the TAT Governor.

So, what does this actually mean for your next holiday? Expect to see a lot more of Lisa in campaigns highlighting everything from Bangkok’s buzzing creative scene to the tranquil beaches of the south. It’s a savvy play that taps directly into the power of pop culture, aiming to inspire a new generation of travellers – and the massive global army of Blinks – to come and explore.
