Let's start the year by filling your home bookshelf with new books at Read Fest, a brilliant book fair that's back again with activities for readers of all ages. And this time it's taking over one of Bangkok's most iconic spots.

From January 23-25, Hua Lamphong Railway Station, the station that once carried thousands of travellers across the country, will send people on journeys through stories instead. Sounds pretty special, right?

This year's theme is ‘Reading Journey’, which feels rather perfect given the venue. The organisers have basically turned the historic station into a multi-level literary experience. You'll find talk stages where authors and creatives share their insights, live musical performances to enjoy between browsing, hands-on workshops and exhibitions scattered throughout the space.

There's also an art and craft market if you fancy picking up something unique, and dedicated reading corners dotted around the station. These Reading Spaces turn Hua Lamphong into a massive public library where you can grab any book that catches your eye and settle in for a read. The whole concept plays into the idea that reading can happen anywhere, anytime.

The festival runs from 10.30am-9pm each day, giving you plenty of time to explore everything on offer. Whether you're a total bookworm, an art enthusiast or just after a relaxing spot to spend an afternoon in the city, this one's definitely worth checking out.

Read Fest runs January-25, 10.30am-9pm, Hua Lamphong Railway Station. Free entry.
