Bangkok's cranking up the heat this week and the city's not messing about. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) dropped a warning on Wednesday March 4 saying temperatures are hitting that sweaty ‘stay inside if you can’ territory, with the heat index climbing between 33 and 41.9C.

The BMA reckons the conditions are serious enough to affect your health, so they're asking everyone to be smart about their outdoor plans. Here's what you need to know.

General public: Cut back on outdoor activities between 11am and 3pm when the sun's absolutely blazing.

High-risk groups (children, elderly, pregnant people and anyone with existing health conditions): Get yourself to a doctor straightaway if anything feels off.

The advice is pretty straightforward really. Skip the midday adventures if you can, drink loads of clean water and stick to breathable fabrics that won't leave you feeling like you're wrapped in cling film.

If you're particularly vulnerable to heat or looking after someone who is, keep an eye out for warning signs like dizziness, feeling faint, unusual tiredness or actually passing out. Those symptoms mean it's time to get medical help, no waiting around.
