A concert in the National Arboretum already has an advantage over most Friday night plans, but the Rock Garden theme gives this one a particularly good excuse to linger. Daisy Road brings a mix of rock, soul and funk to the Ellipse Meadow, with the set built around classic tunes and the National Herb Garden’s Rock ’N Roll Garden exhibit. The pairing is playful without feeling too precious, and the early evening timing makes it easy to settle in with a picnic blanket before the music starts. Local food trucks will be on hand, too. The concert runs from 7 to 8:30pm, with the R Street entrance opening at 5:30pm, leaving plenty of time to wander the areas open for the event before the band starts. Registration is required, so this is one Arboretum outing worth planning ahead for.
