Quicksand & Bane

Quicksand's influence on post-hardcore is easy to appreciate in retrospect, but hearing the band live is a better reminder of why their sound mattered in the first place. The New York group arrives at 9:30 Club with Bring On The Psychics, a new record that keeps the dense, groove-heavy force of its ’90s work while pushing further into experimentation. That balance is what makes this tour especially appealing: Quicksand are not simply recreating the sound of Slip or Manic Compression, but neither are they treating those records as something to outgrow.
