Time Out says

The Capitol Hill Jazz Jam is one of those midweek fixtures that rewards showing up without needing to know exactly who will play. The weekly session starts with a house band, then opens the room to musicians who want to sit in, creating a lineup that changes from Wednesday to Wednesday. Since the jam has been running since 2015 and has featured more than 50 local jazz musicians, there is a real sense of continuity without the night becoming predictable. It is also broader than a standard instrumental jam, having welcomed singers, tap dancers and poets alongside players. Upstairs at Mr. Henry's, the format feels appropriately close to the action. A $15 cover and $12 food and drink minimum make it a relatively easy way to hear live jazz on a weeknight, especially if you prefer discovery over a fixed setlist.
