Jiaoying Summers

Jiaoying Summers brings Lucky Pony 26 to DC Improv with material drawn from the collision of cultures, motherhood and the strange expectations that come with being a first-generation immigrant. Her comedy is especially sharp when she turns those personal experiences into observations about identity and belonging, rather than treating them as tidy inspirational stories. Summers also has a strong online following, but the club setting gives her longer stretches to develop ideas beyond the quick-hit format of viral sketches. Her new Hulu special, What Specie Are You?, gives you a useful preview of the territory she is exploring on this tour. The September 4 through 6 run includes evening shows at 7pm and 9:30pm, with a 7pm performance on Sunday.
