Uncle Bryn’s house from Gavin & Stacey has been turned into an Airbnb

Gavin & Stacey put the tiny resort town of Barry on the map. Since the hit show launched in 2007, Barry has been revived as a tourist destination with folk travelling from far and wide to see the exact spots where Gavin and Stacey professed their love for each other, where Smithy hosted his notorious quiz night and where Baby Neil was christened. Now, the public is being given access to another iconic location from the series. 

You can now stay in Uncle Bryn’s actual ‘bachelor paradise’. The house on Trinity Street has been turned into an Airbnb, complete with Bryn and Smithy’s home gym (from series three, episode three) and dozens of hidden Easter eggs that ‘only true super fans will spot’. 

With two bedrooms and a sofa bed, the home can fit up to six guests. There’s a fully equipped kitchen, a cosy living room with a fireplace and a private patio to chill on out the back. Fans will also find Trevor’s Subbuteo table and an omelette maker, with which you can attempt to recreate Gwen’s famous turkey omelette. Sorry, you won’t actually be able to use the home gym for a workout – it’s a photo op only. 

From the house, it’s a short walk to several other Gavin & Stacey filming locations, like the beach and Nessa’s Slots (which is actually Island Leisure Amusement Arcade) and Marco’s Cafe on Barry Island. The town is also just half an hour train ride from Cardiff, in case you fancy going further afield. 

The Airbnb host, Jaxx Nelson said: ‘We spotted online that the house was up for sale and honestly weren't sure we'd even get a viewing - it's such a well-known property. But we did, and I think we were among the first through the door. Talking afterwards, we thought how much we'd love to stay ourselves for an “Uncle Bryn experience” of sorts - and then figured, if we'd love it, there must be other fans who would too. So we put an offer in that same day and were slightly stunned when it got accepted.’
