Garage punk’s spookiest get-together returns to Shinjuku Loft in October. An institution on Tokyo’s underground calendar, Halloween Ball packs more than 60 bands into two days, October 17 and 18, kicking off at noon. Ten overseas acts are making the trip, including Australia’s The Fiction, Denmark’s Columbian Neckties, Italy’s Superhorror and Mexico’s Carrion Kids, while Japanese garage-punk icons Guitar Wolf play on Sunday. Go-go dancers, guest DJs and pinball should keep things weird between sets. Tickets are ¥5,000 per day in advance (¥9,000 for both days), plus a drink charge. The party then moves to Nagoya’s Huck Finn Imaike on October 24, with The Fiction, Columbian Neckties and Operation S in tow.
