The cooler climate brings with it a wave of international bands and acts that are heading our way thanks to Byron’s Splendour in the Grass festival. It’s also the best time of the year to catch one-off parties and big names at Sydney Opera House and Carriageworks as part of Vivid’s music line-up. Don’t let the temperature drop stop you from catching this season’s best live music. Here are our picks of the best gigs to see in Sydney from June till August.

Field Day is a Sydney institution. Devotees of the sunny New Year’s Day event will likely be tucking themselves into bed just before the year ticks over on December 31, sober and ready for a wild day of music and festival madness. This popular festival is back for its 25th year on the decks, and it looks like it's going to be a particuarly fresh one.  Kicking off in the Domain on Monday, January 1, Field Day 2026 is exhibiting all signs of shaping up to be a really excellent party. International music arts and homegrown talent will both take to the main stage to sling high energy dance music to Sydney revellers. From young dancers to more seasoned party professionals, Field Day is an inclusive, dance-focused space where hydration is key, and good vibes are a must.  This year, there's an exciting new kid on the block. Enter: Camp Ground, a special stage that'll be solely dedicated to shining a (literal) light on Sydney's queer talent. Curated by, and for, Sydney's LGBTQIA+ communities, this new wing is set up to add an extra, bright dimmension to a legacy institution.  So who are the big names we’ll be holding out for? Start the New Year with Aussie icons and Aria winners, The Presets, 'Shooting Stars' duo Bag Raiders, rising producer STÜM, and Berlin-based techno power-house Patrick Mason. UK-grown talent includes London's BL3SS and the Irish Belters Only, while Aussies are represented by Atomic Kiss, Chase Zera and Djanaba, plus lots, lots more.  Remember to pack your...

Summer is approaching, and in excellent news for dance music enthusiasts, Sydney’s cultural calendar is about to get a whole lot sweatier. Renowned music curators Finely Tuned (the team behind Lost Paradise and Lost Sundays) have just unveiled a brand-new event series, and it’s on track to bring a whole heap of fun to the Harbour City this summer.  Enter The Works: six warehouse-scale events taking over Carriageworks across summer 2025/26, bringing some of the planet’s biggest electronic music acts to one of Sydney’s most progressive creative spaces. Benefitting from the influx of international DJs hitting Aussie shores for Lost Paradise and other summer festivals (including Victoria’s Beyond The Valley), the lineup is top-tier. Over four weeks, more than 20 local and international acts will roll through, with headliners spanning festival heavyweights, underground heroes and fun, forward-thinking taste-makers who are just starting to make their name. The beloved British electronic duo Underworld will launch the series on December 29, bringing their genre-defining live show to the industrial inner city setting (and yes, you can expect 'Born Slippy'). They’ll be joined by Ross From Friends’ new club-pop project Bubble Love, plus homegrown favourites Roza Terenzi and Reenie. From there, the energy won’t let up. I Hate Models will unleash raw, frenetic chaos on Carriageworks on January 2, flanked by techno maximalist VTSS and rising Scottish DJ Sim0ne. The following night,...
