Switch off, spritz on: how this Aperol Spritz sunset party is changing after-work life in the CBD

In Italy, aperitivo occupies that sweet spot between work and dinner, when friends and colleagues gather for a drink and a catch-up before the evening properly begins. That’s the moment Aperol Spritz wants to bring into Singapore’s after-work culture – particularly the golden hour, when the office lights could give way to an orange sunset and the people around you deserve more attention than your inbox. 

The experience kicked off in August with a playful reminder in the workplace itself. A ‘maintenance crew’ arrived at a CBD office with an unmarked carton box, only for them to open up to a live performance by SORN, beatboxer Neil Llanes and saxophonist Bian Tong, alongside Campari Group brand ambassador Bystrik Uko and a glowing Aperol Spritz tower.

The experience then took over Pekin Street from August 19 to 21, with nine F&B businesses joining the Aperol Spritz Sunset Block Party and turning the CBD into a buzzing social spot for winding down. Rather than simply turning up for a drink, visitors could paint their own sunset onto a take-home coaster, discover which ‘Sunsetter’ personality they were, or strike a pose at the Sunset Vibe photobooth ​​– all while soaking up the easygoing, sunset-inspired settings. 

Ice Cream Sundays curated and supplied the soundtrack, with DJs taking the street from the final stretch of the working day into the evening. More than 3,000 professionals from across the CBD joined over the three evenings, filling Pekin Street with conversations, music and Aperol Spritzes. For a city accustomed to eating dinner at its desk and replying to messages on the commute home, it was a pretty compelling argument for hanging around.

The Pekin Street takeover has now wrapped, but wait – there’s more. The CBD event forms part of Aperol Spritz’s wider Sunset Life experiences, with more moments planned across Singapore and Southeast Asia.
