Time Out says

Sentosa, which means ‘peace and tranquillity’ in Malay, is anything but. Once a fishing village, it served as a British military fortress from the 1800s to 1967 when it was known as Pulau Blakang Mati (‘Island of Death from Behind’). In 1968 it began a new lease of life as a holiday resort.
Some think Sentosa is the bee’s knees among Singapore’s sights; others deem it a Disneyland wannabe. But the best way to tackle the island is to embrace its tackiness along with the decent offerings. There is plenty to see so prepare to spend at least half a day here.

What’s on

Gallop Into Spring

Your Chinese New Year celebrations are about to get a magical Disney twist. Join Mickey, Minnie and their pals on a journey across Sentosa Island with Gallop Into Spring, which transforms Sensoryscape into an immersive adventure that’s inspired by King Mu’s Eight Steeds, a classic motif in Chinese art that features the magnificent superpowered horses that were believed to have pulled the emperor’s chariot during his travels. Each celestial horse symbolises a different blessing, such as vitality, harmony and renewal, and is complemented by floral arrangements that reflect its meaning and zodiac readings. However, the highlight is an 8-metre-tall horse display positioned at the centre of the installation, flanked by larger-than-life statues of Mickey and Minnie dressed in traditional outfits. Then, as you reach the end of the Sensoryscape walkway, there is a final photo op moment where you can snap pics next to your favourite Disney mouse couple and giant red packets. Throughout the festive season, there will also be scheduled lion-on-pole performances and character walkabouts along Sensoryscape and Sentosa’s Beach Station.

Sentosa Sunset Yoga

If a gentle reset is what you need, Sentosa’s Sunset Yoga has you covered. Happening every first Sunday of the month from September 7, this outdoor yoga session unfolds on the shores of Sentosa between 6pm and 7pm – perfectly timed with golden hour. With the sunset casting a warm glow across the shore, you’ll be guided through movements to slow down, reconnect with your body and mind, and soak in the calming sound of waves rolling in the background. Participants are required to bring their own yoga mat. Do note that this is a rain-or-shine event, though sessions will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather. Children aged 12 and under will need to be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are priced at $15, and Sentosa Islander members enjoy $5 off.
