Much has been said about Geneo, the new cathedral-inspired mall and lifestyle hub that just opened in Singapore this year. But if you don’t work in the area and haven’t found time to haul yourself down to the West for a visit, then your radar would probably have missed Citrus Kitchen – a chill bistro that brings to mind a beach club in Bali.

The tropical-inspired café’s interior is decorated with rattan lamps, wooden furniture and lots of cacti, while the sheltered outdoor area grabs immediate attention with a big hot air balloon and sunset feature piece that lights up during the evening. While you won’t be dining with your feet in the sand, a section of the wooden floor outside is traded for gravel, with straw tents overhead.

The menu features a mix of inexpensive Thai and Western fare, including Thai mango salad ($6.90), clear or red tom yum soup (from $14.90) with chicken or seafood, burgers with fries (from $10.90), and cajun chicken steak ($15.90). There’s no mango sticky rice, but you can always end your meal with a cup of Thai milk tea ($6.50) or classic red ruby ($7.90) dessert.
If you happen to be working in the vicinity of the Science Park, Citrus Kitchen will provide a nice change of pace amidst the spreadsheets and send you straight to a beachy daydream – at least for the duration of a meal.
Citrus Kitchen is located at unit #01-09 of Geneo at Singapore Science Park, and opens daily from 11am to 12.30am. Check out the menu and make a reservation here.
