Spanning 3,500sqm at Gardens by the Bay, the Ghibli showcase features 12 life-sized film worlds

We've seen Spirited Away more times than we can count, and the thought of standing inside its iconic bathhouse – an eight-metre-tall, 3D recreation – is doing things to us.
The Story of Studio Ghibli opens at Gardens by the Bay's West Lawn on December 18, 2026, and it features world-first experiences that don't exist anywhere else, not even Japan.
Spanning nearly 3,500 square metres, Singapore's The Story of Studio Ghibli presentation is also a brand-new expanded format that dwarfs any other Studio Ghibli exhibition or pop-up to date. Across 12 life-sized environments, the exhibition draws on more than 40 years of Studio Ghibli films, including classics like My Neighbour Totoro, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle, and The Boy and the Heron.
The Story of Studio Ghibli uses interactive multimedia and animatronic installations to bring its most iconic sets to life. There's the eight-metre-tall build of the Spirited Away bathhouse, which you can explore after wandering through the world's mysterious, lantern-lit streets. Stand under the rain at the bus stop right beside Totoro as you wait for the Catbus, explore the lush and mystical woodland from Princess Mononoke, and even face off with a life-sized Ohmu straight from the Toxic Jungle of Nausicaä of the Wind – one of Studio Ghibli's most ambitious yet underrated works.
Educational programmes and learning opportunities for children are also in development, with details to be announced closer to the opening. What we know is that these will centre on themes of creativity, resilience, and environmental stewardship – very much in line with the ideas and concerns explored in the Ghibli films.
Early bird tickets are now available via official ticketing partner Klook. Every adult ticket booked during the early bird window (running until December 17) includes an exclusive limited-edition souvenir gift.
Here are the ticketing tiers:
