Café hop in October 2025: 5 new cafés in Singapore to visit right now

The café craze on this island never dies. Recently, we zoomed in on humble neighbourhood spots that serve up brews and bakes to the local community. This month, the spotlight is back on cafés closer to Singapore’s bustling city centre, offering a tiny bit of respite from the hustle. The following new places we’ve shortlisted come with their own specialties, whether it’s stunning rooftop views, the perfect cheesecake and coffee pairing, slow-drip and zines, scrumptious Italian brunch fare, or loaded matcha lattes. Here are five new cafés in Singapore worth checking out right now.

1. Pout Rooftop Cafe

It’s easy to see why crowds are pooling at Pout Cafe on a sleepy weekday afternoon – this rooftop spot looks like it’s plucked straight out of the indie Haebangchon neighbourhood in Seoul. Well-curated interiors, a cosy tiered seating area, and not to mention, that million-dollar view overlooking the Marina Bay skyline. To access this ‘hidden’ café, take the elevator next to Meh’r by Inderpal up to the sixth floor and turn right. Pout’s menu is lean and concise. This is not the place for a full meal, but you can grab coffee (from $4.90 for a black) and pastries (from $7) over a catch-up with friends or a light midday work sesh.

Two kinds of coffee blends are offered – Apache, which is a darker, chocolatey Brazil and Colombian blend, and Sunbird, an Ethiopian blend that’s brighter and more citrusy. Specialty drinks include honeycomb latte ($7.90), peanut butter mocha ($7.90), coconut matcha cloud ($7.90) and more. As for bakes, our picks are the brûlée Basque cheesecake ($9.90) with a crackly, caramelised layer on top and a side of yoghurt to cut through the richness, as well as the cinnamon roll with pecan ($8) that’s delightfully warm, sticky and chewy. Our only advice? Maybe wait for the hype to die down a little for a more comfortable experience.

2. Basq & Bean

This new café along Beach Road is made for cheesecake fanatics and coffee snobs alike. Basq & Bean started out as a passion project to create the best cheesecake in Singapore. The founders believe that the dessert should be enjoyed as a whole – crust, gooey centre and everything – instead of by the slice. You’ll find five flavours on the menu: the original, dark chocolate and pandan kaya are available as six-inch pies ($35 each) while the Snow White (vanilla bean, without a caramelised top layer) comes in a mini 3.5-inch portion. This month, the café is offering a unique mooncake flavour ($35 for six-inch, $15 for a 3.5-inch) for the Mid-Autumn season, featuring a Basque cheesecake core with lotus seed paste, salted egg yolk and almonds. 

Coffee isn’t an afterthought here as well. In a bid to offer more than the usual Brazilian, Ethiopian or Colombian blends, the team took to Chiang Mai in search of Thai-grown beans that are rarely seen in Singapore. Sip on signature creations like the Basq Brew latte ($8.80) topped off with creamy Basq burnt cheese; the Literal Smoked Brew ($9) with black coffee infused with vanilla and maple wood smoke; the -96°C dirty coffee ($9); and Orange’cano ($7.80), which is a fresh orange juice and americano blend.

3. Drip & Drool

Fancy a languid afternoon flipping through zines while sipping on cold drip coffee? Previously, you would have only been able to find Drip & Drool’s cold brews at the occasional pop-up, but now, the brand has set up its own cosy nook along Lavender Street, dedicated to the art of slow brews and zines. Forget La Marzocco and the hiss of coffee machines, stepping into this espresso-only café feels like a proper break from the noise on the main road. Pick from five cold drips (from $9), ranging from a plummy, velvety El Salvador brew ($9) to a premium, fruity and floral Colombian pour ($17). And yes, the brand’s popular cold brew white and oat coffee ($7.50, $8.50) are also available. 

Not a coffee connoisseur? You’ll find something you like from the thoughtful tea selection, whether it’s a cold brew honey pear pu-er ($7) or an organic roasted cacao husk mint tea ($7.50). And for the peckish, munch on bites like scones and cookies (from $4). To complement the experience, Drip & Drool has a mini collection of zines by independent publishers from around the world, mainly focused on architecture and design.

4. Fortuna Terrazza

Remember that one Italian restaurant in Tanjong Pagar that blew up on social media last year? Fortuna now has a new Amalfi-themed café offering all-day Italian brunch fare, located just three doors down from its Craig Road unit. Our pick is the Buongiorno Toast ($26), a take on the trending open-faced sandwich crowned with scrambled eggs and thick-cut bacon. This version uses juicy, maple-glazed pork from Australia that slices apart easily, accompanied by melty provolone cheese and a delicate truffle mayo sauce. 

But for something less predictable, go for the Folded Eggs alla Diavola ($25), which features Fortuna’s signature fried pizzetta for a fluffy, chewy base. It’s layered with wilted spinach, folded eggs, shallots, crunchy bits of salamino Napoli and fine threads of chilli. But here’s the best part: from 6pm to 10pm on weekends, Fortuna Terrazza will offer a condensed version of Fortuna's menu, with the same signature pastas, pizzas and well-loved dishes served at its original outlet across the street.

5. Creamie Sippies

First there was matcha. Then strawberry matcha. And then, as everyone slowly descended (or ascended) into full-on matcha frenzy, the banana pudding matcha craze emerged. Homegrown café Creamie Sippies was one of the first to jump on the trend, offering towering cups of the dessert-drink with heaping scoops of banana custard and cookie crumble. Its first brick-and-mortar space is a takeaway kiosk next to ABC Brickworks, with just two mini standing tables available. However, in recent times, the brand has since expanded to Keong Saik, where it now has a proper dine-in area for customers, and its very own granite matcha mill imported from Japan. 

Yes, the joint grinds all its matcha fresh, daily, and is currently the only café in Singapore to do so. On top of usual favourites like the banana pudding matcha latte ($9.90) and strawberry matcha ($8.90), the café also offers outlet-exclusive creations like the butterfly pea coconut cloud ($8.90 and earl grey matcha cloud ($9.90), as well as bakes like banana bread cakes and banana pudding ($7.90).
