Noname’s Telefone still sounds unusually intimate a decade on, which makes this anniversary show worth catching in full rather than treating it as a nostalgia stop. The 2016 mixtape established her gift for folding spoken-word precision into loose, jazz-leaning rap, but its real strength is how conversational the songs feel. They move through love, friendship, mortality and uncertainty without turning any of it into a tidy thesis. Hearing the record live, ten years after its release, should also put some distance between Telefone as a breakthrough project and Telefone as a work that has had time to settle into its own identity. For anyone who came to Noname through her later records, this is a chance to revisit the project that made her voice so distinctive in the first place. And at an all-ages show, you do not need to fit the usual late-night concert crowd to make it work.
