Art Osaka is returning for its 24th consecutive year, and its 2026 edition promises to be the most ambitious yet. Organised by the Association for the Promotion of Contemporary Art in Japan (APCA), the fair will again unfold across two venues: the brand-new Grand Green Osaka in Umeda for the Galleries Section (May 29–31), and the atmospheric Creative Center Osaka in Kitakagaya for the Expanded Section (May 28–June 1).
Encompassing everything from intimate gallery showcases to monumental installations, the cluster of creativity promises to offer a panoramic view of today’s most compelling forms of artistic expression.
At Grand Green Osaka, around 50 leading galleries will present works spanning generations and genres, including painting, sculpture, photography and moving images. The venue itself, a futuristic hub built around ‘greenery, innovation and co-creation’, symbolises the city’s evolution as a global creative capital.
Meanwhile, the Expanded Section transforms the vast industrial spaces of a former shipyard in Kitakagaya into a stage for immersive installations and site-specific works. This acclaimed platform is now in its fifth year and continues to push the limits of presentation, inviting visitors to experience art on an architectural scale.
