Time Out says

The Broadway home of Manhattan Theatre Club since 2001, the Friedman is one of the increasing number of venues run by nonprofit organizations (others include the Roundabout Theatre Company and Lincoln Center Theater). This cozy 903-seat space has a relaxing basement lounge and ample aisles, making entrances and exits relatively easy. Originally named the Biltmore, it was rechristened in 2008 for the pioneering publicist Samuel J. Friedman. Since it is run by MTC, you can expect subscriber crowds to be there, checking out new plays and revivals. Historic pre-MTC productions include My Sister Eileen (1940), Barefoot in the Park (1963) and Deathtrap (1982).

School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play

In Jocelyn Bioh’s ferocious comedy, set in 1986, the queen bee at an exclusive Ghanaian boarding school competes with a sunny American student for the attention of a pageant recruiter. The play’s Off Broadway premiere in 2017 was one of the buzziest shows of the season, and returned for an encore run the next year. Now Manhattan Theatre Club brings it Broadway in a new production helmed by Whitney White (Liberation), who also directed Bioh's Jaja’s African Hair Braiding for MTC in 2023. The cast includes Jasmine Amy Rogers and Denée Bento as the principal adversaries and Heather Alicia Simms and Patina Miller as the grown-ups.

Awake and Sing!

Manhattan Theatre Club delves into the American immigrant experience in a revival of Clifford Odets's 1935 classic about a struggling Jewish family in the Bronx, directed by Tyne Rafaeli. The production reunites erstwhile Fiddler on the Roof costars (and Broadway favorites) Danny Burstein and Jessica Hecht, alongside Jeremy Shamos, Micaela Diamond and Will Pullen; the rest of the company has not yet been announced.
