ArcLight Theatre

One of the true basement theaters, the 99-seat ArcLight is situated underneath an Upper West Side church in the proud tradition of the old-fashioned New York cubbyhole venue. People in the second row have less leg room than Shaq does in coach, but the scrappy surroundings can sometimes stimulate cheerfully down-at-heel shows like Robert Ross Parker’s Goodbye Cruel World.
